Vapor barriers help keep moisture from entering the crawl space through the ground. These typically take the form of plastic sheeting. The sheets are installed along the walls and inner support piers. The seams usually are sealed with double-sided tape to block as much moisture as possible. Effective moisture barriers are continuous and maintain full coverage even as work is taking place.
